A Fresh Look for the Aquinas Main Building
Posted on Tuesday, June 14, 2022
Following a successful 60th Anniversary Picnic, “Moving Day” took place at Aquinas College on Monday, May 16. Many willing hands lent themselves to spending the day moving all items out of the West Wing of the Aquinas Main building in preparation for the planned facilities upgrades scheduled to take place over the coming weeks.
Many workers could be found in the West Wing over the next few weeks, both upstairs and downstairs, as the old plaster ceiling from when the building was constructed in 1961 was completely demolished to make way for a new ceiling and new lighting. Once this work was completed, the hallways, classrooms, and other administrative areas took on a new look – very clean and open. Yet, much work remains.
A new drop ceiling will next be installed, with new energy-efficient LED lighting. As workers installed the framing and gridwork for the drop ceiling, they showed their skill in walking on stilts, making it much easier to work on the ceiling installation.
In addition to work on the ceiling and lights, upgrades are also being made to some of the electrical work and the energy management system for the building. We are so grateful to the many benefactors who have made it possible for us to proceed with this first phase of needed upgrades in our Aquinas Main academic building.
If possible, we hope to satisfy a few additional immediate needs, including the installation of two additional outdoor wallpack lights near an entrance for added safety at night, new carpet for some of the hallways and classrooms, and new blinds for the windows. If you are interested in helping to make it possible to meet these needs, please click below and indicate that you would like your donation to go toward facility needs. Thank you for your support of our College!
