Majors

The Elementary Education (Elementary) program is based on an Interdisciplinary Studies major that prepares students to teach multiple content areas as is characteristic in elementary education.

The Bachelor of Science in English prepares candidates to teach English at the secondary level. Degree requirements insure that candidates evaluate literature, understand English usage, and learn to convey those skills to their students. Upon fulfillment of standards required by the State of Tennessee, students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Science degree requirements may be recommended for Secondary licensure.

The Bachelor of Science in History prepares candidates to teach History at the secondary level. A rigorous emphasis on the content area, along with education courses, ensures that candidates master the subject area and achieve the professional competence needed to teach History effectively. Upon fulfillment of standards required by the State of Tennessee, students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Science degree requirements may be recommended for Secondary licensure.
