Nashville, TN – On Tuesday, August 28, Sister Mary Agnes Greiffendorf, O.P., ’02 took the Oath of Fidelity and made a public Profession of Faith in the presence of the new Ordinary of the Diocese of Nashville, Bishop J. Mark Spalding. Sister succeeded Sister Mary Sarah Galbraith, O.P., ’89 as the 12th President of Aquinas College in the summer of 2017. The Oath and Profession of Faith were pronounced during the Mass of the Holy Spirit, celebrated by the Most Rev. J. Mark Spalding, Bishop of Nashville, at St. Jude Chapel on the Aquinas College campus.

The bishop also witnessed the Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith from newly appointed theology faculty member Sister Gabriella Yi, O.P., S.T.D. Sister then received the mandatum to teach theology at Aquinas. All theology faculty at the college receive the mandatum in expression of the College’s commitment to Truth and the teachings of the Magisterium.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit officially began the academic year. In attendance, Nashville superintendent of Catholic schools Rebecca Hammel joined faculty, staff and students for the celebration, making her first visit to the Aquinas campus.

A writer from the Tennessee Register took the opportunity to interview Sister Mary Agnes on the occasion. Read the article here.
