Center for Catholic Education at Aquinas College Hosts 5th Annual WISE Conference

Posted on Tuesday, December 17, 2019

Nashville, TN – The Center for Catholic Education at Aquinas College announces the 5th Annual WISE Conference to be held June 29 – July 2, 2020 at Siena Hall. The WISE Conference is a four-day formation opportunity for Catholic school educators on the nature, purpose, and mission of the Catholic school. The WISE Conference is a response to a national need to form educators and educational leaders in Catholic identity.

“Many participants discover for the first time how much the Church loves them, loves their vocation as an educator,” said Sister Elizabeth Anne Allen, O.P., Ed.D., creator and director of the conference. “In the Catholic school we participate in the very heart of the Church’s mission, in a particular and individual way.”

WISE stands for witness, inspire, serve, and educate. Participants at the conference are led through the Catholic Church’s teaching relating to Catholic schools during interactive presentations. Common prayer, meals, and sharing among colleagues are all part of the experience.

The Center for Catholic Education at Aquinas College, in conjunction with the School of Education, serves Catholic elementary and secondary schools by providing spiritual and professional formation opportunities in the area of mission and Catholic identity. The Center was established in 2012 as a think-tank for serving Catholic education locally and nationally. Staff of the Center for Catholic Education collaborate with superintendents, principals, pastors, and teachers to support the work of faculty formation through presentations, resources, consultation, and mentorship.

The WISE Conference welcomes individuals as well as teams of three or more from a school. In addition to school faculty and staff, superintendents, pastors, school board members, and parents are encouraged to attend WISE.

Lodging and registration details are on the Aquinas College website. For more information, contact the Center for Catholic Education at Aquinas College at 615-297-7545 ext. 471.
