February is Black History Month.

The Center for Catholic Education at Aquinas College has designed a resource as an aid to teachers and catechists in planning activities and/or content for Black History Month. The resource focuses on highlighting the role of African American Catholics in the Catholic Church in the United States.

“In addition to the national Black History Month, there is also a Black Catholic History month celebrated in November,” said Sister Elizabeth Anne, O.P., director of the Center. “While this resource could certainly be useful then as well, it has a broader purpose of being part of history-in-general, that is, our nation’s history that belongs to all of us irrespective of race.”
