Certificate of Propaedeutic Studies
Aquinas College is honored to collaborate with the Diocese of Nashville in the educational formation of men discerning the priesthood. Prior to formal, full-time seminary studies, seminarians for the Diocese of Nashville spend a year in the propaedeutic stage of priestly formation, a time for growth in prayer and fraternity. The propaedeutic year incorporates human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation as preparation for the rigors of seminary study and, following that, the various challenges associated with parish priesthood.
Working with the diocesan Office of Vocations and its director, Father Luke Wilgenbusch, Aquinas College has developed a program of study, the Certificate of Propaedeutic Studies, to serve these seminarians in their propaedeutic year. This one-year program will offer Sacred Scripture, literature, Spanish and a specially-developed internship experience to provide the necessary groundwork for seminary study as well as providing exposure to the many and varied responsibilities of the parish priest. It is expected that prayerful and reflective time spent in the program will bring into sharper focus the challenges and rewards of a vocation to the diocesan priesthood.
The inaugural class of students for the Certificate of Propaedeutic Studies commences Fall Semester, 2023 with eight men. Please join us in prayerful support of these men as they undertake the joyful task of discerning God’s call for their lives!
