Mass Of The Holy Spirit
Posted on Thursday, September 12, 2024
On August 22, 2024, Aquinas College celebrated the academic inaugural Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit. The beautiful liturgy was celebrated in Aquinas Center by his Excellency, the Most Reverend J. Mark Spalding, Bishop of the Nashville Diocese, who urged the worshippers always actively to invoke the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our various areas of service. It is the Holy Spirit’s presence and leadership that governs Catholic education and gives our mission its life. The Reverend Mark Chrismer, Chaplain of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, the Reverend John Sims Baker and the Reverend Luke Wilgenbush, priests of the diocese, concelebrated. Deacon Christopher Simpson was Master of Ceremonies. After the Mass, once the clergy recessed to bless the campus buildings, congregants remained at the altar to pray together the litany of Saint Thomas Aquinas, our College’s Patron Saint.
Following Mass this year, an excellent barbeque brisket luncheon was generously provided by Mr. Tom Frank. This treat included a special delicacy: his apple pie baked beans (oh! worthy of fond memory!). A friend and benefactor of the College with many virtues and talents, Mr. Frank was our Field Supervisor for the summer’s window replacement project in Aquinas Main.
