Mass of The Holy Spirit 2026

Posted on Wednesday, September 16, 2026

Aquinas College welcomed the beginning of a new academic year with its annual Opening Mass of the Holy Spirit, celebrated by Bishop J. Mark Spalding. Students, faculty, staff, and friends of the College gathered together in prayer and thanksgiving, entrusting the year ahead to the guidance and blessings of the Holy Spirit. The Mass offered the Aquinas community a meaningful opportunity to pause at the beginning of a busy academic year and reflect on the College’s mission of seeking truth, pursuing virtue, and growing in wisdom and faith. Through prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist, those gathered asked the Holy Spirit to guide its students, faculty, and staff to approach the year with renewed purpose and hope. Bishop Spalding’s presence and celebration of the Mass made the occasion especially meaningful. Following the Mass, students, faculty, staff, and guests gathered for a luncheon, continuing the spirit of fellowship that marked the morning’s celebration. The luncheon provided a welcoming opportunity for members of the College community to reconnect with friends and colleagues, meet new members of the Aquinas family, and share conversation as the new academic year began. Together, the Mass and luncheon set a joyful and prayerful tone for the year ahead, reminding the Aquinas community that its academic work is strengthened by faith, friendship, and a shared commitment to the College’s mission: Called to Communion.

Aquinas College welcomes all students regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or national origin who desire to be part of the faith-based mission of the College to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the College.
