Catechist Formation Program (CFP) — Aquinas College - Nashville, Tennessee

Catechist Formation Program (CFP)

Like all Christians, catechists are called to continual conversion and growth in their faith. To provide the ongoing spiritual formation needed to nurture this growth, Aquinas College offers a Catechist Formation Program for adults.

Aquinas College developed the Catechist Formation Program to assist various dioceses as they help pastors, principals, and directors of religious education train prospective catechists in Roman Catholic doctrine. By making available faculty, research, and scholarship prepared in the light of the Magisterium of the Church, the Program offers a systematic and organic formation program based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other catechetical documents of the Roman Catholic Church and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Program is a non-credit program supported by Aquinas College in light of its overall mission. Currently, the CFP is offered in two formats: live trainings and online.

The Catechist Formation Program includes:

Directed Study

Catechists must complete 6 courses given by Instructors associated with the Aquinas College Center for Evangelization and Catechesis. Each course includes five program lesson: Creed, Sacraments, Morality, Prayer, and Methods. They provide a theological and catechetical foundation for catechist, teacher, parents, and all interested adults.

Saturday Live Sessions

We also offer live session for parishes, schools, and dioceses.
