To Guide Us in Truth and Charity: Mass of the Holy Spirit

Posted on Tuesday, September 6, 2022

At the beginning of each academic year, Aquinas College invokes the guidance of God’s Spirit upon us and our efforts with the Sacrifice of the Mass. This year’s Mass of the Holy Spirit, occurring August 23, 2022, was especially festive, with Bishop Mark Spalding celebrating. With him were Father Mark Chrismer (Chaplain of the St. Cecilia Motherhouse) Concelebrant and Father Rhodes Bolster (Chaplain of the Nashville Diocese University Catholic) the Master of Ceremonies.

The characteristics of unity, humility, and peace, attributes of the Holy Spirit, were proclaimed in the Liturgy of the Word and sought in the prayers of the faithful in the spacious Aquinas Center, which was set to accommodate the student body, faculty and staff as well as some members of the College Board of Directors. Following Mass, Sister Cecilia Anna, O.P led the Litany of St. Thomas Aquinas, the College Patron Saint, and Bishop Spalding prayed the Blessing of the Buildings. It was a joyful beginning to a year of discovery and service.

Aquinas College welcomes all students regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or national origin who desire to be part of the faith-based mission of the College to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the College.
