2023 Mass of The Holy Spirit — Aquinas College - Nashville, Tennessee

2023 Mass of The Holy Spirit

Posted on Thursday, September 7, 2023

Each academic year, Aquinas College begins the year in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the students, faculty, and staff of the College. This tradition, which dates back to the foundation of Aquinas College in 1961, brings together students, faculty, staff, Board members, and friends of the College.

The main celebrant and homilist for this year’s Mass of the Holy Spirit was Father Mark Chrismer, chaplain of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. Father Luke Wilgenbusch, vocation director for the Diocese of Nashville and adjunct professor for Aquinas College, concelebrated this special Mass.

The characteristics of unity, humility, and peace, attributes of the Holy Spirit, were proclaimed in the Liturgy of the Word and sought in the prayers of the faithful during this Mass in the spacious Aquinas Center. Following Mass, Sister Cecilia Anne, O.P led the Litany of St. Thomas Aquinas, the College’s Patron Saint, as Father Chrismer blessed the Aquinas Center, the Aquinas Main building, and Siena Hall Conference Center. It was a beautiful and grace-filled gathering to prepare Aquinas College to begin the new academic year.
